Booleroo Centre and Districts Hospital staff were very pleased to take possession of a new bariatric wheelchair, donated by Mt. Remarkable RAOB 64, known as the Buffs Lodge.
Members of the Lodge presented the chair to director of nursing Julie Arthur, who said, “This wheelchair is larger and more reinforced than standard wheelchairs, and can carry over 100kg up to 150 kg in weight.”
Over many years the Mt. Remarkable Lodge members, in conjunction with the hospital’s diabetic educator Liz Bishop, have held an annual bowls day at the Melrose Bowling Green in aid of the hospital. Robbie Robinson said, “The Lodge supplies prize money and Mrs Bishop organises the day with help from the Booleroo Hospital staff.”
It is always a good day, and this year approximately $900 was raised, making it possible to acquire the bariatric wheelchair which should add to the already excellent equipment in the hospital.
Mr Robinson said one of their members, Keith Fuller, at 94 years of age is the oldest attending Buff Lodge member in the State, and they are proud of him.
