Kauzzie Boys have a ball

The Blyth Community were treated to some fine live entertainment over the weekend when the Kauzzie Boys consisting of well known country singer Scott Dann and New Zealand singer and impersonator Wayne Nuku came to town.

On Friday afternoon Scott wandered into the Blyth Primary School Reception and Year 1 classroom with his guitar and entertained the youngsters for 30 minutes.

Not only did Scott play some of his own tunes and Johnny Cash favorites, but also asked for requests from his young audience.

Scott was up to the task as he played “Old Macdonald had a Farm” as well as some of the more usual country tunes of “Click go the Shears” and “Home amongst the Gum Trees.”

The children were enthralled with Scott’s fingers strumming the guitar as well as his sweet tuned voice.

The children asked questions with one being if Scott was a real cowboy!

On Saturday, August 30, in the Blyth Community Hall 125 Blyth community members and visitors enjoyed a variety of delicious pasta meals prepared by Phil and assistants of London Hill Catering (who volunteered their services) and entertainment by the Kauzzie Boys.

During the night volunteers from the community ensured the evening flowed smoothly. It has been many years since the Blyth Hall has seen live entertainment and with the Kauzzie boys donating their services to the community it was a huge successful fundraiser with many hitting the dance floor or just enjoying the Kauzzie Boys performance. The audience age varied from 20 to the over 80’s and both Scott and Wayne’s music catered for them all.

Many businesses were more than happy to donate their goods or services towards the event with the major sponsor being Crouch Rural of Crystal Brook.

During the night a mini auction was held with MC “Whitey” and local Greg Toholke doing a great job in raising more funds and auctioned two jackets, two Akubras personally signed by Lee Kern-aghan and a 5kg block of lovely cheese.

Funds from the night will go towards improving the facilities of the Blyth Community Hall, the Blyth Football Oval, the Blyth Netball Courts and the Blyth Play-group.
