Lions continue charge to finals

BMW continued its recent run of good form to make it three wins on the trot with a solid 36-point

victory over the fourth-placed Orroroo.

The Lions are now only one game out of the top four with one round left to play.

After looking like taking out the wooden spoon for most of the season, Lions have really found some good form at the end of the year.

Best for BMW was Michael Bury, Kym Searle, Kendrick McCallum, Dylan McCallum and Eamon Fetherstonhaugh. Andrew Milne kicked five goals and Jordan Arthur two.

Best for Orroroo was onballer Liam O’Dea, Josh Clark, youngster Ryan Finn, Brodie O’Dea and Andrew Byerlee. Kirwin Moore kicked two goals for the Roos.

Southern Flinders 20-14 (134)

defeated Jamestown-Peterborough 4-9 (33)

Southern Flinders produced another powerful display to completely outclass the Magpies in the match played at Peterborough.

The Tigers played fast, skilful footy and used the ball extremely well despite the conditions which were wet and windy.

Best for the Tigers was classy centreman Matt Woolford, midfielder Ben Brown, Jeremy Edson and Lucas Chapman on the ball and full forward Scott Brand (four goals). Garry Hull also kicked four goals, Cameron Edson three, Matt Woolford and Brett Ballantyne two goals each.

Best for the Pies was winger Nick McInerney, centreman Nick Davies, defender John Villis, ruckman Scott Mesecke and Brad Breeding on a back flank. Hamisk Tonkin, Shane Heness, Darren Woolford and Greg Farr each kicked a goal.

Crystal Brook 14-16 (100) d Broughton-Mundoora 8-9 (57)

Crystal Brook returned to winning form with a solid 43 point victory over the Eagles in the match played at Mundoora on Sunday.

The Roosters led all day and were never threatened by the Eagles who have struggled to find form.

Shane Arbon headed the best player list for the Roosters along with centre half back Matt Coates, defender Matt Jackman, onballer Jack Cousins and full forward Jamie Kemp (seven goals). Gus Merkel kicked two goals.

Best for the Eagles was midfielder Andrew Wilson, rover Aaron Barclay, Ashley Lockwood, Lee O’Donohue and Rowan Edwards. Mark Horner kicked three goals and Matt Gale kicked two.
