It came down to the wire for two budding golf stars recently as they battled it out in the Junior Golf Championship Playoff in Port Broughton.
Shae Daniel and Thomas Manners took to the course for the annual event that gives younger players the chance to be involved in competitive golf.
Shae has been playing golf in the Northern Districts Golf South Australia competition for three years and started on a handicap of 36.
This year he bettered his handicap to a score of 27.
Tom has been a part of the NDGSA for one year and also has a handicap of 27.
Port Broughton Golf Club junior coordinator Michael Krieger said: “Being Tom’s first year he has taken to golf like a duck to water.”
Competition commenced at 10am with Shae and Tom teeing in the hope of becoming this years champion.

But for Shae it was not just the motivation of being the junior champion but also being the youngest to ever win the title.
There was also some sibling rivalry as Shae’s brother Maverick won the award two years prior.
The game was a match play, meaning that whoever won the most rounds was crowned the winner.
It was an even match with both players on seven holes each and three even holes by the time they reached the final hole.
It proved to be a nail-biter, with Shae finishing on five strokes on hole 18 to clinch the title.
Tom was just one stroke behind him on six. “This game could not have been more even with both competitors ending up on a score of 96,” Mr Krieger said.
Spectators of the day said that both players showed exemplary behavior and at the end of the day they both took off their hats and congratulated each other’s success.
Taking third place this year was Ryan Boughen who fell one stroke behind Tom for the qualifying position.
The championship trophy will be presented to Shae during the end-of-year presentation.
He is looking forward to continuing his golfing career and hopes to be captain of the A grade NDGSA within five years time . And, who knows, maybe there is another Tiger Woods just around the corner.
